LIST: JCPS, 120+ schools closed, delayed or using NTI for Friday
TOUGH. MO ROSE WE’RE CHECKING IN WITH YOU TO SEE HOW THOSE SNOW COVERED ROADS ARE DOING. IT’S PRETTY TOUGH OUT THERE TOO. I WANT TO TAKE YOU OVER TO WATERSON, WESTBOUND TO I-64. SO WE LOOKED AT THIS CAMERA. OUR LAST CHECK OF TRAFFIC, AND IT LOOKED LIKE WE HAD A SPIN OUT CRASH. BUT NOW I’M SEEING THAT ALL LANES COULD BE. BLOCKED IN THIS AREA. THE WATERSON WESTBOUND RAMP TO I-64 WEST. LET’S TAKE A LOOK AT THE TRIMARK TRAFFIC CAMERAS. IT’S KIND OF TOUGH TO SEE BECAUSE OF THE SNOW THAT’S BLOWING IN TO THE VIEW OF THAT CAMERA, BUT IF YOU SEE THE FLASHING LIGHTS THERE IN THE CENTER OF THE SCREEN, THERE WAS ANOTHER TRUCK THAT HAD SPUN OUT AND THAT HAS SINCE CORRECTED ITSELF. HOWEVER, THERE’S STILL A LOT GOING ON OUT THERE. SPOKE WITH METRO SAFE. THEY DON’T EVEN HAVE THIS YET, SO WE’RE LIKELY GOING TO BE SEEING SOME FLASHING LIGHTS OUT THERE. POLICE ARE GOING TO BE ARRIVING SOON AND THEY DO NEED A TOW TRUCK. WE’RE PROBABLY GOING TO SEE THE RAMP COMPLETELY BLOCKED IF THAT IS THE CASE ON WATERSON WEST, I’D SAY GET OFF AT SHELBYVILLE ROAD JUST SO YOU DON’T GET STUCK IN THE DELAY. RIGHT NOW. IT DOESN’T LOOK TOO BAD, BUT THE SNOW IS JUST GOING TO KEEP ON FALLING. NOW, I ALSO WANT TO POINT OUT WE’VE GOT ACCIDENTS WORKING IN OTHER SPOTS AS WELL. GETTING OVER TO 264 WEST AT VIRGINIA AVENUE. ANOTHER NON-INJURY CRASH STILL WRAPPING UP OVER AT HURSTBOURNE PARKWAY IN WATERSON TRAIL. AND I ALSO JUST WANT TO KEEP SHOWING YOU THIS IS THE MAP OF THE REGION, AND THAT LIGHT BLUE SHADE IS INDICATING THAT THE ROADS ARE ALL COVERED IN SNOW. IF THEY’RE CLEAR ON THE INTERSTATES, THEY MIGHT NOT BE ON THE SECONDARY ROADS. THE PLOWS JUST CAN’T GET TO EVERY ROAD OUT THERE. SO BE VERY CAREFUL WHEREVER YOU’RE TRAVELING THIS MORNING. MORE ON ALL OF THIS. NOW HERE’S MATT. YEAH. THE DEFINITELY THE SNOW IS FLYING ACROSS THE AREA IT’S GOING TO FOR THE NEXT COUPLE OF HOURS. BUT YOU KNOW WHAT? FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT ARE SICK OF THE SNOW AND THE COLD WEATHER, I WANT YOU TO SEE THIS TEMPERATURE TREND. YEAH, IT’S GOING TO BE COLD THROUGH THE WEEKEND, NO DOUBT. BUT EVEN THOUGH WE’RE GOING TO BE STUCK IN THE 20S ON SUNDAY, WE’RE GOING TO BEGIN A CLIMB AND LOOK AT THE WEATHER PATTERN SHIFT. HIGHS ARE GOING TO BE GOING INTO THE 50S BY THE MIDDLE OF NEXT WEEK, AND THAT’S GOING TO. NOT ONLY MELT EVERYTHING THAT’S ON THE GROUND RIGHT NOW, BUT WE’RE GOING TO START ADDING IN SOME SOAKING RAIN CHANCES SO IT’LL BE A BIGGER PATTERN SHIFT, BUT DEFINITELY ONE FOR THE MILDER INTO NEXT WEEK. BUT WE HAVE SOME COLD AIR TO GET THROUGH THIS MORNING WITH THE SNOW FLYING AROUND. AND ALSO THOUGH WITH THE BITTER TEMPERATURES THAT ARE COMING IN THE 12 HOUR FORECAST, 28 RIGHT NOW WITH SOME SNOW FLYING THE NEXT COUPLE OF HOURS, WE’LL TAPER THAT OFF LATE MORNING AND BY MIDDAY INTO THE AFTERNOON, IT’S JUST CLOUDY. AND LOOK AT THAT DOWNWARD TREND IN THE NUMBERS. WE’RE 22 BY 4:00, 20 AT SIX. AND THERE IS GOING TO BE A BLUSTERY NORTHWEST WIND THAT MAKES IT FEEL LIKE THE TEENS, FOR THE BETTER PART OF THE DAY. THEN OVERNIGHT, THE TRUE ARCTIC AIR MOVES IN ON TOP OF A SNOW PACK. TWO. AND SO TEMPERATURES GO INTO THE SINGLE DIGITS WILL BE AROUND EIGHT ABOVE ZERO IN TOWN. BUT ADD IN THAT NORTHWEST WIND AT 10 TO 15. AND WE’RE REALLY GOING TO HAVE TO BUNDLE UP FOR WIND CHILLS, ESPECIALLY LATE NIGHT AND TOMORROW MORNING. IT WILL BE ON EITHER SIDE OF TEN BELOW ZERO IN TERMS OF TOTAL SNOWFALL, MOST LOCATIONS ACROSS THE REGION ARE GOING TO BE IN A 1 TO 3 INCH ZONE. I THINK THE THREE INCH AMOUNTS ARE GOING TO BE ISOLATED. MANY ARE GOING TO BE AROUND 1 OR 2 A LITTLE LESS TO THE SOUTH AND WEST, DUSTING TO AN INCH IN SOME OF OUR FAR SOUTHERN COMMUNITIES. AND THE HIGHER TOTALS WILL BE OUT EAST INTO EASTERN KENTUCKY, CLOSER TO LEXINGTON. SOME WILL GO OVER THREE INCHES. HERE’S THE COLD STUFF FOR THE WEEKEND EIGHT TONIGHT, 20 FOR A HIGH TOMORROW. LOW 29 AFTER A LOW 11 FOR SUNDAY. SO WE’RE BUNDLED UP THROUGH. THE WEEKEND. BUT THEN 40S COME OUR WAY. WE’RE MELTING A LOT OF SNOW ON MONDAY AND TUESDAY. RAIN CHANCES START TO BUILD BACK IN TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY, THURSDAY AT TIMES IT WILL BE SOAKING RAIN. SO OUR NEXT ROUND OF WEATHER IMPACTS AND ROAD CONDITIONS WE’LL BE TALKING ABOUT DOING SOME HYDROPLANING OUT THERE. BUT YOU KN
